Not every wisdom tooth needs removal. If yours have come in fully, are functional, and you can clean around them with a brush, leaving them alone is fine. The cases that do need removal usually have one or more of these: The tooth is impacted (stuck under gum or bone) and pushing against the second molar. There's repeated pain or swelling in the area, especially when you're stressed or run down. Food keeps trapping behind the tooth and you can't clean it properly. A cyst is forming around an impacted tooth (visible on X-ray, often without symptoms). Your orthodontist has flagged it before braces or aligners. The procedure itself is more straightforward than people fear. Local anaesthesia for simple cases, sedation available for anxious patients or complex impactions. Swelling peaks at 48 hours, then settles. Plan a day or two of soft food: dal, khichdi, curd rice, the usual. If you're not sure whether yours need to go, a panoramic X-ray gives the clearest answer. #WisdomTooth #OralSurgery #ToothExtraction #DentistChhatarpur #SouthDelhiClinic
