Oral cancer screening takes about two minutes. It's part of every check-up at our Maidan Garhi clinic, and you might not even notice we're doing it. Here's why it matters. India accounts for a third of the world's oral cancer cases, largely because of tobacco and gutka use. The frustrating part is that oral cancer caught early has a very high survival rate. Caught late, the outcomes change dramatically. What we look for: white or red patches on the cheeks, tongue or floor of mouth that don't heal in two weeks. Lumps or thickened tissue. Persistent sore throat or hoarseness. A change in how your teeth fit together. Risk factors that warrant extra vigilance: tobacco in any form (smoking or chewing), regular alcohol consumption, age above 45, and a history of HPV exposure. If you use tobacco and have been thinking about stopping, this is a sign. We won't lecture you. We will examine you carefully and refer you to a specialist immediately if anything looks off.
